Honestly, after all the fun I have been a part of through Thunder in the Valley I am ready for Windber Rumbles. Sure it’s only one day but I love to ride and as I get older im noticing that it is getting harder and harder to make time to hang out with my friends. It just seems that it is more of a pain now to line things up, ya know? Everyone’s work schedules and other obstructions in life just seem to make any kind of extracurricular activity almost impossible. Anyways, there is some info about the event(more as we get it) on the official Windber Rumbles Website.
Another thing we were talking about doing this summer is heading down south and riding the Tail of the Dragon in Deal’s Gap, North Carolina along US-129. The road is home to 318 turns over 11 miles. This would be awesome to conquer on a sport bike or just to get some practice on your turning speed and response. The actual route crosses US-129 from Tennessee into North Carolina and averages 1 death per year. From Johnstown it is about 9 hours and 50 minutes to get there, however we would have a place to stay there considering we have good friends in Charlotte NC (about 4 hours away from Deal’s Gap) or another friend’s campsite (about 2 hours away).
Who knows what location we will end up choosing for our Motorcycle Roadtrip this year, but I can promise you there will be pictures and a writeup on MyJohnstownPA.com
Thanks and as always, RIDE SAFE!!!
